Horikawa Site

The Horikawa River Walking Path is transformed into a fantasy world through such attractions as the “Illuminated Milky Way,” which is a recreation of the Milky Way filling the night sky, and “Illuminated Yuzen-nagashi,” which uses light in its presentation floating on the water’s surface.

Kamogawa Site

Location Area around the Kamogawa River (Bukkoji Dori to Oike Dori)

Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki ceramics, as well as wind chimes made using the traditional techniques of Kyoto Buddhist altar fittings, are placed in a bamboo basket and illuminated with LED to create “wind chime lanterns.” Special strips of paper with wishes written on them are hung, and LED lighting decorates the glamorous “Walkway of Bamboo and Light,” combining with the babbling sound of the Kamogawa River to create a world of fantasy.

Kitano Tenman-gu/Kitano Kamiya-gawa Sites

Location Kitano Tenman-gu Shrine, Kitano Kamishichiken, area in front of Kitanomon Gate on Imadegawa Dori, area around the Kitano shopping district

    The entire site is decorated with Tanabata bamboo branches and illuminated with lights to create a fantasylike atmosphere.

Nijo Castle (Nijo-jo) Site

    Ninomaru Garden, which has the most cultural value of all historical gardens still existing in Japan, will be illuminated for the first time. Visitors can view the subtle and profound garden as the illumination makes it stand out.
  • The Ninomaru Palace Kitchen: The world of traditional Japan
    Visitors can enjoy the “world of traditional Japan” while listening to a koto harp performance. There are also shops near the kitchen where visitors can buy Kyoto specialties and food and drink.

Umekoji Park Site

    A show of light produced by illumination and paper lanterns, fancy gourmet dining from kitchen cars, workshops the entire family can enjoy, and a wide variety of other events are held.

Okazaki Site

  • - Okazaki Promenade Sound Feast of the Stars
    The path from Heian-jingu Shrine Otenmon Gate to the large torii gate is illuminated, Okazaki Park and the facilities, dining establishments, etc., along Nijo Dori host unique music events, and food stands are set up with the cooperation of restaurants in Okazaki and the surrounding area, creating an attractive night in Okazaki.

Kyoto Botanical Gardens Site

Location Kyoto Botanical Gardens
  • - Kyoto Botanical Gardens Cool of the Evening in the Gardens
    The usual closing time of 5:00 P.M. is extended to 6:30 P.M.
    During the period of the event, there will be a “wishing corner” in the Botanical Gardens Hall. Visitors can write their wishes on a special strip of paper and tie it on a bamboo branch. Admission is free for guests wearing traditional Japanese clothing or a summer kimono.
